NBA: No. 1 Draft pick Fultz scores 10 points in 1st game since October

PHILADELPHIA  Markelle Fultz who heard the chanting of 20,000 fans "Fultz! Fultz! Fultz!" and for a fleeting moment he thought they were serenading Philly's most popular athlete. He thought they were saying `Nick Foles, Fultz said of the Super Bowl MVP for the champion Philadelphia Eagles. "Then he realized it, and it was pretty dope. These fans are great, and I love them." The Sixers and their fans wanted the No. 1  to pick  and play well -- after five often-confusing months -- when they got him.

Australian GP: Sebastian Vettel repeats 2017 victory in season-opener

World number 1 formular player Sebastian Vettel had taking in  full advantage of a bizarre incident which involves both cars of the American owned Haas team who has to claim the opening race of the 2018 Formula One season in Australia Sunday. Vettel held off reigning champion Lewis Hamilton to take the checkered flag in Melbourne, with his Ferrari teammate Kimi Raikkonen in third place. Vettel, who was repeating his 2017 success at Albert Park, was able to leapfrog polesitter Hamilton while a virtual safety car was deployed on lap 26 of 58 at Albert Park. That came about as both the Haas cars of Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean retired in quick succession after pit stop errors left them driving with loose wheel nuts.

NPFL WRAP: TOP FOUR REMAIN UNCHANGED

The title-favourites in the Nigeria Professional Football League failed to show the stuff of champions on match-day 14, on an exciting weekend which saw the top four remain unchanged with 29 goals scored. MFM FC  Chijioke Akuneto netted a brace within the space of 20 minutes to complete a 2-1 fightback for MFM FC against Katsina United, having fallen behind to Garba Yashau's 35th-minute goal.  Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries FC came from behind courtesy of two second half goals from substitute Akuneto Chijioke to claim a 2-1 triumph over Katsina United in a Matchday 14 fixture of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) decided on Sunday at the Soccer Temple, Agege Stadium. An eventful 45 minutes of the exchange saw both teams claim possession of the ball with good passing skills as they entertained the fans but it was the visitors that made a statement with the only goal in the first half. NBA: OLADIPO HELPS PACERS CLINCH PLAYOFF SPOT

Nigerian-American basketball player Victor Oladipo had 23 points and five assists to help the Indiana Pacers clinch a playoffs berth with a 113-107 overtime victory over the Miami Heat on Sunday.  While, Thaddeus Young had 22 points, nine rebounds and five steals, and Bojan Bogdanovic added 18 points and eight rebounds for the Pacers, who secured their seventh appearance in the postseason for the last eight seasons. Tyler Johnson made five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points, James Johnson had 15 points and nine rebounds, and Bam Adebayo added 14 for the Heat, who split the four-game season series. Darren Collison finished with 12 points, made the go-ahead 3-pointer to put the Pacers ahead 101-100 with 2:49 remaining in overtime, and Indiana scored 11 straight points to pull away. The Pacers took a 109-102 lead with Collison’s 3-pointer with 55 seconds left to play.
